Andre Onana is one Manchester United player many fans believe Ruben Amorim should replace ahead of the new season.
The Cameroonian’s high-profile mistakes in both the Premier League and Europa League are proof that the Red Devils need a more dependable option in between the sticks.
In fact, since the 23/24 campaign, the 29-year-old has made nine errors leading to goals in all competitions, the most of any keeper playing for a Premier League club.
Despite offering his services to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, INEOS are yet to receive any concrete offers.
No concrete offers for Andre Onana
AS Monaco were interested but a combination of United’s asking price and the player’s wage demands have meant they have also stayed away.
And now, according to Givemesport, Amorim has realised the futility of trying to move the Cameroon international on this summer, and has decided to keep him as the No.1 in the new season.
“Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has decided that he is prepared to keep Andre Onana as his first-choice goalkeeper heading into the new term despite initially aiming to lure a replacement to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
“GMS sources have been informed that Amorim is still urging influential figures to secure fresh competition for Onana, who only kept 11 clean sheets in all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign, but he is on course to start the upcoming season as Manchester United’s No.1 as it has been accepted that he will be difficult to offload in the coming months.

“The 29-year-old is on a contract which allows him to pocket up to £200,000-per-week when bonuses are triggered, leading to the Red Devils acknowledging that they will struggle to identify a suitor prepared to meet his lofty wage demands and price tag before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.”
Initially, there were talks of a move for either Emiliano Martinez or Marco Carnesecchi of Atalanta should INEOS manage to move on the former Inter Milan ace.
But it seems that is unlikely to pan out, with the head coach currently prioritising the addition of firepower up front over changes at the back.
Whether the decision backfires, only time will tell. Amorim will be hoping for a much improved showing from his keeper or else next summer, there will be definitely be no place for him at Old Trafford.
