Amorim reveals team news for Tottenham tie
Wednesday 18 December 2024 09:30
Ruben Amorim has revealed the latest Manchester United team news, ahead of Thursday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final at Tottenham.
The Reds are aiming to follow up Sunday’s memorable derby victory over Manchester City by booking a place in the last four of a competition we won in 2023.
Our head coach will make a decision on his travelling squad for north London after training at Carrington on Wednesday.
He will assess all the players, including Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, who were not involved in the 2-1 win at the weekend.

Press conference part one | Ruben Amorim is asked about Garnacho, Rashford and team news before Spurs away…
“We have one more training [session] but it’s the same situation as the other players,” he said of Garnacho and Rashford. “If they train well, I have to make a choice. We will see at the end of the training.
“I expect the best of each player every day, so we will see after this training.
“No [I’ve not spoken to Marcus yet]. We gave a day off to the lads. He’s our player and he’s ready for the next game.”
Noussair Mazraoui and Mason Mount were withdrawn at the Etihad Stadium, with the boss admitting he was concerned about their fitness as a result.
Luke Shaw was absent due to injury, but Toby Collyer and Jonny Evans trained at the weekend and could enter Amorim’s thoughts for this contest.
Altay Bayindir played in our previous Carabao Cup ties this term, against Barnsley and Leicester City, but, of course, that was under previous manager Erik ten Hag.
TOTTENHAM’S TEAM NEWS
Spurs are dealing with injury issues at the centre of their defence, with Archie Gray playing out of position there, of late, and both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven going off during the defeat to Chelsea.
Richarlison has been sidelined and Rodrigo Bentancur is out due to suspension, with an appeal to reduce its severity rejected.
However, there will be more of a update when Ange Postecoglou conducts his own press conference.
