Amorim reveals key to Dorgu’s adaptation

Ruben Amorim has identified a key factor behind Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu’s positive early impression at Manchester United.

The Denmark international has made an encouraging start to life in England, following his winter-window switch from Serie A side Lecce.

Rampaging up and down the left flank, the 20-year-old was one of our brightest performers in the 2-2 draw at Everton and will be looking to sparkle in his first Premier League match at Old Trafford, against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.

During his exclusive pre-match interview with club media, which you can watch from Wednesday morning, Amorim was asked about his thoughts on Dorgu’s contribution to his fledgling United career.

“I think the one important thing is that he’s really excited to be here and you can feel it every day,” explained Ruben. “So it’s something that I’m really happy with, because he understood how lucky he is to play for a club like ours.

“He’s playing really well in the context that it is really hard, but he’s showing a lot of things that we thought [about] when we bring a player like him in – a young player.

“He has the pace, he has the quality, he can play both sides, but he’s playing on the left. I think he’s feeling a little bit more free. He’s going to be a very good player for us now and in the future.”

Amorim was also asked about the fans getting behind the team, as we look to gain three points on the night, against Kieran McKenna’s men.

His response was to shift the onus to the players, to ensure there is plenty to cheer in the 19:30 GMT kick-off.

“I think it’s the opposite,” he replied. “We cannot ask anything more from the fans. We have to stay behind the fans because they are leading by example, and I’m saying this all the time and I can feel the support from our fans, even in every situation, in the context that we are in.

“So it’s the opposite. We need to get behind our fans and to create a momentum for them and a little bit of a good time in the game.”
