Ruben Amorim says his midfield duo Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo are getting better all the time.
Speaking to journalists at Carrington on Friday, our manager highlighted the recent displays from the England and Uruguay internationals.
Ugarte put in arguably his finest performance of the season last time out at Anfield, winning more tackles than anyone else on the pitch in an aggressive midfield display that helped United come away with a well-earned point.
Amorim has taken notice of his recent efforts and commented on the overall improvements our no.25 has made since the pair worked together at Sporting.
“I think he has become better with the ball since then, and in playing between the lines,” Ruben said, in the second part of his press conference.

“He’s continued to be an aggressive player, but I think he has improved in many ways.
“He is from Uruguay, which can help, but he is a good example. It is a really important position in the team, so it was easier to pass the [tactical] message to Ugarte, but I think others are also improving.
“A lot of players are giving their best. I think Kobbie has also improved a lot during these last few matches.”
Mainoo, who was similarly impressive at Anfield, was also imperative to our win in the Manchester derby last month, after replacing the injured Mason Mount early on.
Amorim made sure to stress the importance of patience with the young midfielder’s development but expressed excitement about his future.
“At the minute, it’s a hard moment at the club, but of course I’m happy with Kobbie,” he added.

“I think you can feel that he is the finished product, but he’s not yet. He has so much potential to grow even more, but he is really good and can be so much better.
“I think he is improving, all of the players are improving, and all of the players are important to me.”
Both midfielders could play key roles when United visit Arsenal in the Emirates FA Cup this Sunday, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.
