“Already in contact”: United trying to pull off blockbuster signing of “force of nature”, will instantly transform team – report

Manchester United succumbed to yet another embarrassing 0-3 defeat in the Premier League at the hands of Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday. Last season, the Cherries had won by a similar margin and are turning out to be a bogey team of sorts.

Ruben Amorim decided to hand Joshua Zirkzee a start after his impressive cameo last week against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup but he failed to threaten the visitors’ goal while also being culpable for the opening goal conceded.

Rasmus Hojlund, brought on as a second-half substitute, was not too good either and with Marcus Rashford already announcing his desire to leave his boyhood club, it is clear that the head coach needs help.

Victor Osimhen remains one of the club’s top targets with the Nigerian scoring 12 goals in 15 games for loan outfit Galatasaray across all competitions while registering five assists

Osimhen release clause

Napoli are desperate to move him on and with the Turkish outfit struggling to find sponsors to fund a permanent move for the sharpshooter, United could take advantage.

The former Serie A winner, termed a “force of nature” for his incredible exploits,  has a release clause of €75 million and the Red Devils are prepared to pay it next summer but they are not the only clubs in the race.

Fichajes have claimed that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Nigeria international and a three-way battle is set to ensue once the season concluded.

“Victor Osimhen has become one of the most coveted names in European football following his outstanding performances in Serie A and his recent loan move to Galatasaray.

“The Nigerian striker, who is currently in Turkey, has attracted the interest of three of the continent’s most powerful clubs: Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

“All three teams are willing to pay the €75 million listed in his release clause, which has sparked a real battle for his signature.”

A January exit seems unlikely given Gala’s own ambitions of trying to win the Turkish league, which they are currently comfortably leading.

In touch with Osimhen

United have held talks with the player’s representatives as per Sacha Tavolieri but convincing Napoli and Galatasaray will be the hard part.

“Already in contact with his representative, Manchester United will have no trouble reaching an agreement on personal terms with the 25-year-old Nigerian.

“The hardest part will be convincing the president of the Neapolitan club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is expected to demand up to 75 million euros, with eighteen months to go until the end of his contract.”

INEOS are not exactly flush with cash and a lot of departures will need to occur for the club to afford Osimhen’s mammoth asking price.
