“A unique place in world football”: United announce exciting new upgrades to Old Trafford for next season

Over the last 12 months, there has been much talk about Manchester United’s plans to build a new stadium. New stadium plans It was announced around a year ago that the club would be moving forward with building a new stadium adjacent to the current Old Trafford site. The new arena, which will be state-of-the-art, will host 100,000 spectators and, in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s words, will be a “Wembley of the North”. Unfortunately, there have been delays due to attempts to buy the land surrounding the stadium, and the project is unlikely to be completed until into the 2030s. Current stadium upgrades Whilst fans must wait for their new stadium, the club have recently introduced some changes to the current stadium. Last season saw the introduction of Tifos on European nights, most notably against French club Olympique Lyonnais and Athletic Club. There has also been the introduction of flags at the Stretford End for numerous Premier League home games. The club’s website has also announced some more changes that will occur in the upcoming season. The site explained, “we are excited to introduce a series of stadium enhancements ahead of the 2026/27 season, designed to deliver a faster food and beverage service, more choice, and an improved experience for every supporter visiting Old Trafford.” The club claim that these changes have been driven by fan surveys and that they aim to modernise the matchday experience for their loyal supporters. It is stated that, “a multi-year agreement with Levy, global leaders in sports and entertainment hospitality, will bring improvements designed to make service quicker, easier and more seamless for fans.” Specific improvements The club say that new draught beer taps will be introduced across the stadium, as well as self-service bars to reduce queue times. There will also be a greater emphasis on local food, as there will be “a wider range of food and drink, including a selection of street food from independent Manchester vendors at kiosks outside the stadium and in the Red Cafe.” Finally, digital signage will be introduced, allowing menus to be changed depending on kick-off time and the types of events at the stadium. Commenting on the announcement, CEO Omar Berrada stated, “Old Trafford holds a unique place in world football and, whilst we have plans for a new stadium in the long term, we have a responsibility to ensure we’re continuing to invest in our facilities and services in the short term.” The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
