Enzo Kana-Biyik: Man United decide where striker will play next season

Last year, Manchester United won a fiercely contested European race for French teenage sensation Enzo Kana-Biyik.

Impressing at the same academy as Paul Pogba, Le Havre, United signed the youngster on the back of a prolific scoring record: nine goals in 18 games for their Under-19 side, which made him highly sought after.

Signed and sent out on loan

INEOS, however, managed to convince him that his future lay at United, signing him last summer before opting to send him out on a season-long loan to INEOS-owned Lausanne Sport.

With the Swiss side, Kana-Biyik got the chance to fully experience first-team football, making twenty-one league appearances and scoring once, as well as three appearances in the Europa Conference League.

Although he did not score as many goals as anticipated, the season-long loan still proved important, giving him a genuine feel for first-team football.

Decision made over where Kana-Biyik plays next season

Back for pre-season at United, many were keen to see whether he would stay or head out on loan again.

According to the Manchester Evening News, a decision has now been reached on where the young striker will play next season.

They write: “Kana-Biyik is expected to remain with United in the new campaign as he enters the next stage of his development, which means he will play for the U21S and receive first-team exposure in training sessions.”

This represents a huge opportunity for the nineteen-year-old, and hopefully he grabs it with both hands.

With the Red Devils hoping to do well in the league cups, he may be one of the promising academy talents handed a chance, meaning his first-team debut could come sooner than expected.

Should he prove a hit, he could leave United’s decision-makers with no choice but to promote him, just as they did with Shea Lacey last season.

In the meantime, as he announces himself to English football, and with Chido Obi likely to leave on loan, Kana-Biyik could take over as the United junior teams’ goalscoring machine.
