Manchester United’s quest to land their dream defensive midfielder remains an ongoing process. The Red Devils were priced out of a move for Elliot Anderson, while Tottenham Hotspur hijacked moves for both Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. INEOS did do well to sign Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans; however, neither are out-and-out powerful shields in front of the back line. United have tried desperately to sway Aurelien Tchouameni away from Real Madrid, but that plan does not seem to be working. Eduardo Camavinga: United hold talks with agent This is why they have shifted their focus to his club teammate and compatriot, Eduardo Camavinga. As previously relayed by The Peoples Person, Los Blancos remain open to the 23-year-old’s departure. However, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the player himself is keen to stay and fight for his place under new boss Jose Mourinho. The 20-time English league champions have got in touch with the former Rennes ace, only to be told that until and unless the former United manager explicitly tells him to leave, the France international is not jumping ship. “Manchester United have held talks with Eduardo Camavinga’s representatives to understand the player’s situation. They also made similar enquiries about Manu Koné a few weeks ago. It shows that United are still actively looking to strengthen their defensive midfield. When Eduardo Camavinga will change his mind revealed “However, as has consistently been the case with Camavinga, the only way a transfer can happen—whether to Manchester United or any other club—is if the player gives the green light. “At the moment, the message from Camavinga has remained unchanged throughout May, June, and July. He wants to continue working under José Mourinho and fight for his place at Real Madrid. His priority is to revive his career there, and he has no intention of leaving the club this summer. “Of course, things could still change before the transfer window closes. Real Madrid may hold further discussions with Camavinga, Mourinho could speak with him again, and the player may reassess his future. If he eventually becomes open to leaving, the Premier League would be a very realistic destination.” United stand a chance should Real Madrid aggressively pursue the likes of Rodri and Enzo Fernandez this summer. The only thing INEOS can do now is wait and watch. Feature image Aitor Alcalde via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
