Sources close to 26-yo World Cup phenom claim United will submit formal offer imminently – report

Manchester United are expected to make a formal move for San Lorenzo goalkeeper Orlando Gill. Reports in Argentina continue to insist that United are keen on signing Gill despite the arrival of former Leeds United number one Karl Darlow at Old Trafford. On Wednesday, The Peoples Person relayed a report from DSports Radio that the South American star’s agent has an offer from United. Manchester United’s formal offer could arrive within days Now, according to insider outlet Vamos Ciclón (via Sport Witness), people close to Orlando Gill expect Manchester United to submit a formal proposal before the end of the week. Gill was nothing short of a heroic figure for Paraguay in the World Cup, earning FIFA’s Player of the Match awards against Germany and France. In fact, the 6’6″ giant made the highest number of saves (23) in the tournament. The 26-year-old has returned to training with the San Lorenzo squad in Argentina. However, it is understood that his second stint in Boedo could be short-lived. “His performances with the Paraguayan national team have attracted the interest of several European clubs, and according to sources close to him, an offer from the Premier League could arrive in the coming days,” the report states. The outlet acknowledges that suggestion of a move to United seemed to have initially cooled down but things have changed “in recent hours”.  “Gill’s camp claims the English club will submit a formal offer in the coming days, even before the weekend,” the report adds. San Lorenzo still waiting for official approach However, it is stated that San Lorenzo are yet to receive an official contact from United at the time of writing. The Argentine outfit have allegedly only received a concrete approach from Greek club Olympiacos so far. However, their approach was deemed insufficient. Both San Lorenzo and Gill see this transfer window as an ideal opportunity for a transfer on the back of the brilliant World Cup campaign. However, as far as United are concerned, the suggestion of an imminent bid might be a ploy to force other suitors to come with a more reasonable offer for the Paraguayan shot-stopper.
