Manchester United are keen to strengthen their central midfield this summer. It has not been easy, with deals for some top targets proving elusive. Still, INEOS remain determined to deliver a successful midfield overhaul. Andrey Santos is set to be confirmed as a new signing soon. He and Ederson, provided all goes well with his medical, are two of at least three midfield signings needed. Ederson, Santos and who next A third midfielder is expected to join the duo and complete this midfield rebuild. So far, it remains a mystery who this will be. For now, though, it is certain it will not be Aurelien Tchouameni, who is staying at Real Madrid. It may also not be Noah Sadiki, whose fate, according to Teamtalk, has been sealed. The DR Congo midfielder, dubbed a ‘ “properly complete midfielder” upon his move to the Stadium of Light by The Athletic’s Seb Stafford-Bloor, was one of the breakout Premier League stars last term. The dynamic, box-to-box central midfielder caught the eye for his tireless work ethic, explosive ball-carrying and defensive bite. United scouts were alerted to him, and while they must have weighed up whether to pursue him as the third midfield signing, they have since been told why a deal would be trickier to strike. Noah Sadiki transfer blocked “Sunderland have made it clear to Noah Sadiki that they have no intention of allowing him to leave this summer,” writes Teamtalk, who confirm United’s persisting interest in the 21-year-old. “Sources have confirmed Sunderland are fully aware of the mounting attention surrounding one of their brightest young stars. However, the club’s stance is unequivocal.” With Tchouameni off the list and now Sadiki off it too, it has not been an easy summer for the Red Devils, especially after missing out on other fine targets like Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson. Still, with other interesting options like Manu Kone and Alex Scott available, INEOS can yet successfully pull off the midfield overhaul United need this summer.
