United now chasing 6’6″ beast who was incredible against Germany and France at the World Cup – report

A number of World Cup stars have landed on Manchester United’s radar following their impressive performances in North America.  Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi is perhaps the most exciting name to have attracted United’s interest, but Newcastle United appear to be in the driving seat to land the 20-year-old sensation. United reportedly have their eyes on highly rated Australian defender Lucas Herrington as well, but face competition from the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool. Now, they have been credited with interest in a Paraguay star following his World Cup heroics.  Manchester United interested in Orlando Gill According to Argentine newspaper Clarín (via Sport Witness), Manchester United are following the situation of Orlando Gill. The 6ft 6in Paraguayan emerged as a monstrous figure between the sticks for Paraguay after producing a series of outstanding displays.  The 26-year-old, who plays for Argentine outfit San Lorenzo at club level, was named FIFA’s Player of the Match against both Germany and France. Gill’s penalty shootout heroics against the Germans helped Paraguay reach the last 16. Aston Villa and Ipswich Town have previously been reported to be keen on Gill, but now it is being suggested that United are also in the race. Furthermore, Serie A clubs Lazio and Torino are also named as his admirers. Manchester United want a new shot-stopper It has been widely reported that United are in the market for a second-choice goalkeeper to provide competition to Senne Lammens. With Altay Bayındır expected to follow Andre Onana out the door, United are looking to bring in a reliable backup shot-stopper. However, whether Gill would be happy to sit on the bench at Old Trafford despite interest from other European sides remains unclear. The Red Devils have strongly been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is keen on a summer transfer.
