United now eyeing move to sign 29-yo midfield dynamo, club ready to sanction 7m transfer – report

At the start of the summer, Manchester United were expected to make a marquee midfield signing as part of their squad overhaul. However, United have now missed out on two of their priority targets, with Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes heading to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively in record-breaking deals. United, meanwhile, are determined not to overspend and they seemingly continue to look for market opportunities. Manchester United eyeing Wilfred Ndidi Manchester United have already reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer of Ederson, who will be joining the Red Devils after the World Cup. The Brazilian midfielder will cost around £35 million. Their new target is even more appealing as far as finances are concerned. According to Footy-Africa, Manchester United and Hull City are in the race to sign Besiktas midfielder Wilfred Ndidi this summer. The newly promoted Premier League side wants to add experience and physicality to their midfield and are accordingly considering signing the 29-year-old, who has 220 appearances in England’s top flight under his belt. However, they will now supposedly face competition from United for his services. Known for his interceptions and strong tackles, the Nigerian left Leicester City for Besiktas last summer. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Black Eagles and was also handed the role of vice-captain. Why Wilfred Ndidi is nearing Besiktas exit At the time, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of the Turkish outfit. However, the former United manager’s departure has led to uncertainty over Ndidi’s future. Ndidi could now return to the Premier League, with both United and City thought to be keen. It is claimed the two English clubs are keeping a close watch on his situation. Besiktas spent €8m (£6.8m) to buy Ndidi from Leicester, and it is reported that they are ready to sanction his exit if there is an offer of €8m. Needless to say, Ndidi is not the only midfielder INEOS are monitoring. On Thursday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott are being “discussed internally”.
