After the final whistle, Carrick hailed his players’ mentality and resilience, even when things were not going their way. The 44-year-old was also questioned about his future and gave the clearest hint yet that he wants it permanently. He informed reporters that the role feels natural to him. When asked whether missing out would disappoint him, Carrick sidestepped the question, smiling and merely saying, “We’ll see.” Carrick makes history Not only is Carrick turning things around at United, but he also seems to be making history as he goes. According to statisticians Opta, Carrick is only the sixth manager, and first English manager,  to win at least eight of his opening nine home games in the Premier League.
