Manchester United have released a training ground update from today’s training session at Carrington, giving a major Leny Yoro hint. Race against time Yoro enjoyed an extended run of starts while Lisandro Martínez was sidelined. He lined up alongside Harry Maguire regularly in the Argentine’s absence. When Martinez returned, Yoro slotted next to him because Maguire was suspended for the Leeds game due to the red card he picked up in the previous outing at Bournemouth. Ironically, Martínez got himself sent off against Leeds, leaving Yoro and Ayden Heaven as the only fit natural centre-backs Carrick had to call on. The young duo appeared poised to start against Chelsea, but fate dealt United a cruel blow when Yoro was sidelined by an injury. On the eve of the meeting at Stamford Bridge, it was reported that the Frenchman was in danger of missing the rest of the season. However, a recent update indicated that the issue is not as bad as seriously feared and United are hopeful of having him back for Monday’s home game against Brentford. Carrick confirmed as much, telling the media that it was not a major problem. United have now confirmed that while Maguire trained with his teammates at Carrington today and is in contention to return for Brentford, Yoro was not present. Training ground update United say that there was no sight of Yoro at the club’s training complex today. The club also notes, “Matheus Cunha was not involved, as he is on a recovery day.” “Youngsters such as Shea Lacey, Jack Moorhouse and Sonny Aljofree were also part of the group, preparing for the 20:00 BST kick-off.” Like Yoro, Cunha is also an injury doubt after the Chelsea game, but it appears all is well with the Brazilian and he will be back for Brentford. United need just six points from their remaining five games to mathematically book their spot in the Champions League.
