“A great fit”: Rafael and Fabio Da Silva tell United exactly who to appoint as manager hunt ramps up

Former Manchester United twins Rafael and Fabio Da Silva have outlined their respective positions on Michael Carrick being handed the job permanently. Carrick uncertainty Carrick has done well since he was named Ruben Amorim’s temporary replacement, but there are still no guarantees that United will keep him beyond the end of the season. He has taken charge of 11 games, winning seven, drawing two and losing one. Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to historic rivals Leeds United earlier this week, United still sit in third place in the Premier League table, level on points with Aston Villa in fourth position. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United bosses are unsure whether Carrick is the right man to lead the club long term. It’s said that the loss to Leeds left plenty to be desired. The Red Devils are adamant that no knee-jerk decisions will be made, and an appointment will only happen once all available options have been considered. Andoni Iraola, who is set to part ways with Bournemouth at the end of the season, is seen as a strong contender for the Old Trafford hot seat. Julian Nagelsmann is another who continues to be linked to the job. Carrick has received plenty of support from his teammates, most recently Nemanja Vidic. Now, Rafael and Fabio have joined the list of former players urging the club to keep Carrick. Da Silva twins make Carrick stance known Speaking on the Inside Carrington podcast, Rafael said about Carrick, “He started very good.” “Of course, he lost [on Sunday], but all the time he is there, we feel United is improving and improving.” “And I have this mentality we should keep Michael Carrick and give him a chance to let this team grow, you know?” Echoing his brother’s sentiments, Fabio remarked, “Yeah, when I was with him, I [could] see because his intelligence on the pitch and how he read the game so well and the way he talks.” “I knew [he would] be a great fit for a coach.” Carrick and his players are next in action on Sunday when they go away to Chelsea.
