Man Utd are among the clubs weighing up a summer move for Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard, according to reports in the French media. The World Cup winner is currently on loan with Marseille, but the Ligue One side have opted against keeping him on a permanent basis. They have an option to buy Pavard for €15m, but despite playing regularly this season, having made 33 appearances in all competitions, he will return to Inter. It means the 30-year-old will be on the market at the end of the season, and Jeunes Footeux claim that the Red Devils are one of several teams who are “closely” following his situation. Buy a Man Utd match ball from Decathlon here Pavard wants to remain in Europe It is believed that the France international has interest from Turkey, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce both hoping to secure his signature, and Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr both keen on the player. However, Pavard is said to want to stay in mainland Europe, and that would give United a great chance of snapping him up if they choose to go ahead and make a formal offer. Will Man Utd match his current salary? Jeunes Footeux question whether the Red Devils would sign Pavard on his €5m a season wages. That only works out at just under £84,000 a week, but that figure may well be after tax and excluding bonuses. Under INEOS, United have been cutting their wage bill, having decided not to keep Casemiro (who earns a reported £350,000 a week), while Harry Maguire is believed to have agreed to a pay cut in his new deal. Considering Pavard’s age, the Manchester club may be reluctant to offer him a long-term contract on a relatively high salary, so we shall see how this transfer story develops over the coming weeks/months.
