United’s swashbuckling youth team’s date with fierce rivals delayed owing to exciting April list of fixtures

Manchester United under-18s have enjoyed another successful season. Youth talents The Red Devils have an abundance of exciting players in the academy at the moment. The under-21s have numerous talented options, including the Fletcher twins, Shea Lacey, Irishman Jack Moorhouse, Goodwill Kukonki, and Jim Thwaites, just to name a few. Nonetheless, the under-18s also have some very interesting prospects, most notably JJ Gabriel. There are other intriguing talents, such as the son of former United striker, Kai Rooney. The under-18s have also been consistent in competitions. They sit second in the league, just behind fierce rivals Manchester City. They also have an exciting semi-final lined up against Crystal Palace in the Youth Cup at Old Trafford. The winner will face City, who defeated Blackburn Rovers 4-1 in the other semi-final. United will have another chance to win a trophy when they take on Palace again in the Premier League Cup final at Selhurst Park, in what promises to be a huge April for the academy. Fixture rearrangement Owing to the under-18s’ tight schedule, the club’s official website has announced that, “Manchester United Under-18s’ home league game against Liverpool has been pushed back.” The fixture was scheduled to take place next Saturday, the 18th, but will now instead occur on Wednesday, 29th April, with kick-off now at 12:30 BST. The Friday night Youth Cup semi-final date the night before made the original date impossible to fulfil. The Red Devils are currently level on points with City but behind on goal difference, and have played a game more than their rivals. United’s under-18 side will also take on Leeds United, like the senior team, but later on today with kick-off scheduled for 12:00 BST.
