The additional place was solidified on Tuesday evening after Arsenal earned a 1-0 win over Sporting from their quarter-final first-leg tie in Portugal. This is positive news for Manchester United as Michael Carrick’s men continue to fight for Champions League qualification next term.  The Reds are currently placed third in the Premier League with seven fixtures left to play.
