United offered chance to sign 24-yo Portuguese goal machine who is looking for a fresh challenge – report

Manchester United addressed their goalscoring issues last summer by signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Red Devils have had poor luck with strikers in recent years and had previously invested heavily in Rasmus Hojlund in the summer of 2023. The Dane enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, but the English giants opted to sign Joshua Zirkzee the following summer to add more competition for the position. Unfortunately, the Dutchman turned out to be a disappointment, while Hojlund also struggled in his second campaign. United subsequently ended the 2024/25 season having managed just 44 goals in 38 league games and finished 15th in the Premier League table. INEOS took drastic action last summer, offloading Hojlund on loan to Napoli and signing Sesko to address their goalscoring woes. The Slovenian took around six months to acclimatise to the rigour of the English top flight and has been in sizzling form since the turn of the year. Sesko’s season so far Sesko initially struggled for form under former head coach Ruben Amorim, managing just two goals in 17 appearances. However, following the Portuguese’s departure in January, the Slovenian has been unshackled and has scored goals galore so far. While he has been in and out of the first team under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, Sesko has scored eight goals in his last 11 games, including four off the bench. The player has already displayed qualities to nail down the No. 9 position at Old Trafford for the next decade. However, with Zirkzee’s future up in the air, United could be tempted to add more cover for the position this summer. It now appears that they could have the opportunity to secure a long-term target before the start of the new campaign. United offered Goncalo Ramos According to TEAMtalk, United have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Goncalo Ramos. The report states: “Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos is ready to leave the European champions this summer, and TEAMtalk can reveal that contact has already been made with several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle United.” Ramos is reportedly unsettled at the Parc des Princes after dropping down the pecking order, and several clubs across Europe are alert about his situation. Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are interested in the 24 year old, who is also open to a move to the Premier League. The report adds that United are among the clubs offered the chance to sign the player, stating: “Manchester United, who have also previously explored a move for Ramos, have been spoken to again, while Tottenham Hotspur are another club informed of his availability and could yet enter the frame as they assess their own forward options.” Ramos has registered 11 goals and two assists in 38 appearances for the Parisians across all competitions this season, only 12 of which have been starts. He is under contract until 2028. Final Thoughts Ramos caught the imagination of clubs across Europe following a stunning 2022/23 campaign with Benfica, which earned him a move to PSG. United have had their eyes on the Portuguese for a while and with a return to the Champions League next season being a real possibility, it could be a wise decision to invest in a new striker this year. However, the Portuguese is likely to cost a small fortune, while his struggles at PSG also raise questions about whether he would be the right man for the job.
