Desperate club ready to cash in on two star players high on United’s wish list, it’ll be music to INEOS’ ears – report

Manchester United’s win over Crystal Palace further strengthened their grip on the top four. It is no secret that United are determined to overhaul their midfield, and Champions League football will provide INEOS with ample headroom to make multiple additions in the middle of the park. Interestingly, the financial predicament of their Premier League opponents, West Ham, could help the Red Devils address two positions of concern. Manchester United handed golden opportunity According to The Mirror, West Ham have “admitted they will have to sell players” in the summer transfer window irrespective of their Premier League fate. The 18th-placed Hammers have reportedly revealed a £104.2million loss for the last financial year. A report in the Manchester Evening News adds that West Ham’s financial struggles “may offer United the perfect alternative to some of the more expensive options.” It is claimed that United’s “one clear priority this summer” is to sign a midfielder, and the London outfit’s situation could “open the door for United’s hierarchy to look at Mateus Fernandes.” Manchester United interested in West Ham duo Mateus Fernandes is quietly having an excellent season despite West Ham’s struggles. The Portuguese midfielder has impressed with his powerful ball-carrying and duel-winning ability. Early this year, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are positioned to make a move for Fernandes if West Ham drop into the Championship.  United are also eyeing a move for Jarrod Bowen. The 29-year-old West Ham fan favourite has scored eight goals and registered four assists in the Premier League, having played all across the frontline. It is thought the England winger views his future as “very open” with both United and Tottenham lurking in the background.  West Ham’s plan is to “command a substantial fee” for their ever-reliable captain. However, given their financial crisis, Nuno Espirito Santo faces the possibility of losing the £52.5 million-rated forward for much less, especially if they fail to escape the relegation zone.
