“You’d have gone what?!”: Gary Lineker makes exciting Man United prediction that’ll send fans absolutely wild

Former England striker Gary Lineker has made an exciting prediction about Manchester United ahead of their meeting with Everton on Monday evening. Unbeaten run Michael Carrick and his players will undoubtedly be looking to get back to winning ways when they come up against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Carrick is unbeaten since he arrived as Ruben Amorim’s temporary replacement. The legendary United midfielder has overseen five Premier League games, winning four and drawing one. This run includes victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham. Only West Ham managed to contain the rampant Red Devils. With Chelsea and Aston Villa dropping points over the weekend, there is even greater pressure on United to beat Everton and put some distance between themselves and their closest top-four rivals. Heading into the meeting, United lie in fifth place, level on points with Chelsea in fourth and six below third-placed Aston Villa. Liverpool are also just behind United, also level on points although like Chelsea and Villa, they’ve played a game more. Carrick spoke to United media and warned his players that they will not find it easy against David Moyes’ men. As the battle to finish within the guaranteed Champions League spots heats up, Lineker has predicted that United will clinch one of them, owing to their momentum under Carrick and provided they don’t suffer significant injuries. Lineker’s prediction Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast, “It’s pretty tight up there for the Champions League spots.” “Then two from three. At the moment, the three of them are on 45 points. I think the way they are going, if they stay injury-free, United will take one of them.” “Who would have thought that if you said last season that Man United would finish above Liverpool? Even a few weeks ago you would have gone, what?” He continued, “I think the other spot is between Liverpool and Chelsea. I think United will do it, they’ve got momentum, belief, but as long as they don’t have any injuries, because I don’t think they’ll cope with that. If they don’t, I think they’ll finish in the top five.” “Chelsea and Liverpool are both erratic. Chelsea have got a lot going for them, but a bit inexperienced.” “Liverpool are definitely better than they were in the first half of the season. Defensively, they aren’t giving goals away.” “If you pinned me against the wall and asked me to give you the top five; Arsenal, City, Villa, Man United and Liverpool, Chelsea just missing out.” Everton vs. United kicks off at 8pm.
