BACK David Tully Feb 15th 2026 Man Utd scouts were given “accreditation” for the match between Inter Milan and Juventus on Saturday evening, according to reports in Italy. Calciomercato.com claim that the Red Devils had representatives in attendance as the Nerrazzurri won 3-2 against their Serie A rivals. It is believed United were there to watch two players – one from either side – Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco and Juventus’s Pierre Kalulu. Dimarco would have impressed observers, having provided the assist for Pio Esposito’s goal. He delivered a cross which his teammate headed in. In stark contrast, Kalulu had a match to forget. He managed to pick up two yellow cards before halftime, leaving his team in the lurch. Why were Man Utd scouting Dimarco? While manager Michael Carrick technically has two left-backs at his disposal, Tyrell Malacia is deemed surplus to requirements, and he is expected to be sold at the end of the season. Dimarco would definitely be a huge upgrade on the Dutchman, but there is little to no chance of him leaving Inter to become Luke Shaw’s backup. The 28-year-old would need certain guarantees. His contract at the San Siro does expire at the end of next season, so he wouldn’t necessarily be that expensive if the Red Devils do make a concerted effort to sign him. Maguire may need to be replaced The pursuit of Kalulu is likely to be in anticipation of Harry Maguire leaving the club. The 32-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of June, and negotiations over an extension have not taken place. Reports have suggested that Maguire would be willing to take a sizeable pay cut in order to stay, but talks are currently at a standstill. Kalulu actually played at right-back against Inter, but the vast majority of his matches at senior level have been as a centre-half, so it is logical to assume that he is being eyed as a potential replacement for Maguire.
