Man United Could Beat Chelsea & Arsenal To £43m Bundesliga Gem Who Can Replace Casemiro

BACK Dylan Oakley Feb 2nd 2026 Man United are reportedly interested in signing a £43m midfielder from the Bundesliga with interest also from Arsenal and Chelsea.  Michael Carrick hasn’t seen any new signings through the door in January, which is a slight surprise considering that Man United are currently in a battle for a Champions League spot. The Red Devils have won three games in a row, including a recent 3-2 win against Fulham on Sunday. The Red Devils would like to sign a midfielder in the near future, as Casemiro has announced that he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season. Casemiro is still performing at the top level, so United need a capable replacement for him. The likes of Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson remain linked with United, but they will be summer moves. There is a Bundesliga star who could come in before the January deadline. Man United target Arsenal and Chelsea target Manzambi Carrick would welcome a new midfielder with open arms before the 7 pm January deadline, and one new name has emerged just hours before the transfer window is set to close. According to a report by Sportsboom, Man United have scouted Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi, who has also been scouted by Arsenal and Chelsea. The 20-year-old has attracted a lot of interest from top clubs in recent years, as he already looks like one of the most promising young holding midfielders. The report says that Freiburg value him very highly, and they would only be willing to sanction an exit, if United matched their £43m asking price. This season, the Swiss midfielder has made 28 appearances, scoring four goals, and providing five assists. He has been one of the best young midfielders in Germany, and would be a superb acquisition for any Premier League side. United could sign Baleba in the summer If the Red Devils were to sign Manzambi now, he could be their holding midfielder for the future, before they invest heavily in someone like Baleba in the summer. Seeing as Casemiro is set to leave, and Manuel Ugarte has struggled to perform, signing two holding midfielders would make sense. Click here to see Man United’s latest injury news.
