The midfield market is heating up in England, and this summer will likely see many top names switch teams. Manchester United are looking to be in the thick of the action and are interested in some huge names in the Premier League. Midfield interest The Red Devils made a move for African star Carlos Baleba last summer and still maintain a strong interest in the Brighton and Hove Albion player. United have also expressed significant interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Another key midfielder that the Red Devils are interested in bringing to Old Trafford is Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. Wharton pursuit Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with the England international this summer. The Red Devils are reported to be confident that they can strike a good deal to sign the midfielder from Palace this summer. This was backed up by reports repeated yesterday by The Peoples Person that the Premier League side would “demand around a £65million base fee” for Wharton, a fee United would be happy to pay for a player they consider a “generational talent.” Liverpool on the scene Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that United will not have it all their own way this summer, however. They reveal that, “the English midfielder is Liverpool’s top target to strengthen their midfield for next season.” It is believed at Anfield that, “the British midfielder is the ideal partner to enhance the performance of players like Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. Wharton stands out for his ability to break lines with pinpoint passes and a maturity beyond his limited experience in the English top flight.” What’s more, “despite strong interest from other ‘Big Six’ clubs, Liverpool appears to be leading the race thanks to its solid long-term project.” The outlet states that, “the coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Palace will lower their demands or if the Reds will have to increase their initial offer.” Adam Wharton PL stats 25/26 MatchesGoalsAssists Mins played 30032345 Source: transfermarkt.com Featured image Justin Setterfield via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
