United have placed bold proposal on the table for superstar keen to stay at Old Trafford – report

One of the best performers for Manchester United in their famous Manchester derby triumph last weekend was Casemiro. The Brazilian looked off the boil in recent weeks, with Manuel Ugarte looking the better of the two in the past few games. However, Michael Carrick placed his faith in the Brazil international and he repaid it in style! Both the former Real Madrid superstar and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to retain their places for the game against Arsenal. The five-time Champions League winner’s current deal expires in the summer, with the club having the option of triggering a one-year extension. Casemiro contract situation The extension can also be triggered if the 33-year-old plays every game between now and the end of the season, but that is unlikely to happen There is plenty of interest from his homeland, the MLS, and Saudi Pro League, but as per Teamtalk, the defensive midfielder is keen to stay at Old Trafford. Both the player and his family are very happy in Manchester, and the squad looks up to him and does not want to lose his leadership qualities. INEOS are keen to trim a bloated wage bill, and with Casemiro earning £350,000 gross per week (via capology), there is no chance the co-owners will look to retain him at those wages. United’s offer for Casemiro revealed The report adds that United’s hierarchy will look to offer him a one-year deal at best, albeit on reduced terms. “Sources close to the club indicate that the 33-year-old is genuinely content at Old Trafford. He is relishing his role in the squad despite criticism and fluctuating form. “Sources confirm he is keen to extend his stay at United, and this is due to the fact he is enjoying his time at the club, where he has become a respected figure among teammates and fans alike and one of the club’s senior voices. “Sources suggest any extension offer would likely be short-term, perhaps a one-year deal, but with significantly reduced wages.” His family will yearn for stability at the twilight of his career as they will not want to move house frequently. Whether Casemiro will accept such a proposal remains to be seen, especially as he likely to earn a lot more elsewhere.
