BACK David Tully Jan 19th 2026 Man Utd have “asked” Barcelona about the availability of midfielder Marc Casado, according to reports in the Catalan media. The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their options in the middle of the park before the January transfer window closes and Mundo Deportivo claim that they have made an enquiry for the Spanish international. Casado does have other suitors. Atletico Madrid are believed to be weighing up a move for the 22-year-old as they seek a replacement for Conor Gallagher, who has joined Tottenham. Somewhat surprisingly, Wolves are also among the player’s suitors, but that is more down to the identity of his representative. Casado is a client of Jorge Mendes, and the superagent has close ties with the Midlands club, having agreed multiple deals over the years. What do Man Utd fans need to know about the player? Casado came through Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth academy and he was given his senior debut by the club’s B team in August 2022. Just a few months later, the midfielder got his first outing for the first team, coming on as a substitute during a 4-2 win over Viktoria Plzen in a Champions League group game. Casado has gone on to make 60 appearances for the senior side, although he has been used sparingly by head coach Hansi Flick this season. He has played 19 games in total, starting on 10 occasions. In terms of his preferred position, the Spaniard is usually deployed as a holding midfielder, but he has occasionally been asked to play at right-back. What is Casado’s stance on a move? The player’s initial plan was to see out the season at the Camp Nou, but his lack of game time has led him to consider his options. Casado is thought to be keen on moving abroad, but the interest from Atletico may tempt him to stay in Spain. It is a transfer to keep a close eye on during the last two weeks of the transfer window.
