Rio Ferdinand insists that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen would never shun the opportunity to join Manchester United.Last summer, the Premier League giants revamped their attack by sending Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho on their way, and bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. While their first two signings were Premier League-proven stars who swiftly settled at Carrington, the Slovenian bomber initially struggled to cope with his new surroundings after making the move from the Bundesliga, but he’s starting to come into his own, as illustrated by his current hot run.And yet, many feel that United still need a world-class striker to lead their line, especially if they manage to qualify for Europe. Will Man Utd revive interest in Victor Osimhen?Last summer, MUFC were linked with a host of centre-forwards before eventually settling on Sesko, and one of the most recurring names was Osimhen, especially when his fate was up in the air.The Nigerian, who is described by some as ‘the best striker in the world’, spent the previous campaign on loan at Galatasaray due to a fallout with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis. A year later, the wounds had yet to heal, so the Serie A giants bluntly told the 27-year-old to pack his bags.(Photo by Ahmad Mora/Getty Images)Eventually, he resumed his Turkish adventure by sealing a permanent transfer to Galatasaray. However, many still feel that the Lagos native should be plying his trade at a bigger club, especially now that he’s entering his prime years.Interestingly, former Sunderland and Udinese striker Asamoah Gyan believes Osimhen could still end up signing for Man Utd.“Victor Osimhen, he loves scoring goals, he plays with his heart, and gives everything. I’m surprised big clubs didn’t go for him in this transfer window,” said the retired Ghanaian star during his appearance on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, as transcribed by the Manchester Evening News.“But hopefully, I’m feeling Manchester United too, only if he wants to come because of their history and everything.”Rio Ferdinand insists Osimhen would love to join Man UtdFollowing Gyan’s remarks, Ferdinand fueled the speculation by insisting that Osimhen would accept the opportunity to play for MUFC in a heartbeat.“Osimhen will come to United. If they offer to take Osimhen, he would go, 100%.”The legendary defender had already urged INEOS to go all-in for Osimhen last summer, but his plea fell on deaf ears. Osimhen’s stats by club Appearances Goals Assists Napoli 133 76 18 Galatasaray 57 49 8 LOSC Lille 38 18 6 Charleroi 36 20 4 Wolfsburg 16 0 0 This season, the Nigerian scored 12 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray, including six in the Champions League. He is tied to the Istanbul-based club until June 2029, and he certainly wouldn’t come on the cheap after costing them €75 million last summer.
