Official: United Women announce signing of “one of best young attackers in Europe”

Manchester United Women have had an incredibly busy winter window so far. Busy January Marc Skinner’s side have added Hanna Lundkvist and Lea Schuller to the squad this January. They have also sent Hannah Blundell on loan to Everton and sold Geyse to Club América. Rachel Williams has also completed a move to Leicester City. The Red Devils have officially announced their latest move with their third arrival of the window. Ellen Wangerheim signs The Peoples Person relayed recently that United were closing in on the signing of the Swedish striker from Hammarby. The club’s official website reported that, “Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of Sweden international Ellen Wangerheim on a three-year deal, which sees her at the club until June 2029.” Commenting on the move, the 21-year-old expressed her delight by stating, “I am so excited. It feels amazing to be here. It’s a huge club with big history.” She continued, “so sitting here in this shirt is a proud moment for me. It’s always been my dream to move abroad and to play in another country, in Europe and in a really big football club.” The director of women’s football, Matt Johnson, described the striker as “one of Europe’s best young talents” who is “dynamic, invasive and a versatile forward who brings variation and a natural scoring instinct to the team.” He also stated that he believes United are well set up to maximise her amazing potential. United will be in action tomorrow against Burnley in the FA Cup. Nonetheless, Wangerheim is likely to make her debut against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday, 21st January.
