Man Utd And Man City Are ‘Keeping Tabs’ On Midfielder Who Has Been Labelled The ‘Guernsey Grealish’

BACK David Tully Jan 15th 2026 Man Utd are one of four Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to reports. TEAMtalk claim that the Red Devils have been joined by rivals Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa in “keeping tabs” on the player. Scott has been labelled the “Guernsey Grealish” by some due to his style of play and his origins on the Channel Islands. However, he has morphed into a slightly deeper-lying midfielder under the management of Cherries boss Andoni Iraola. Bournemouth are aiming to keep hold of Scott TEAMtalk believe that after seeing the 22-year-old develop into a “top class” player this season, the Cherries are keen to tie him down to a new contract. They are hoping to ward off potential suitors. Whether they will be able to achieve that aim is another matter. They managed to get Antoine Semenyo to pen an extension at the start of the campaign, but the winger left the Vitality Stadium for Manchester City just six months later, with it being revealed that he had a release clause. Of course, they will be looking to avoid the same thing happening with Scott. Man Utd have other midfield targets Scott has been mentioned as a potential option for the Red Devils in recent months as they look to strengthen their midfield, but many feel that their priorities lie elsewhere. Prior to the sacking of Ruben Amorim, there was a determination to land Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. Things have already shifted slightly since Amorim’s departure, with it now being claimed that Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is the preferred choice of the recruitment team. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also reportedly another name on United’s shortlist, along with Scott. Want more news on Man Utd?
