Sources close to Carrick have revealed his long-term plans, United’s co-owners did not see this coming – report

Manchester United finally picked Michael Carrick over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the head coach position till the end of the season. With Darren Fletcher out of the race, it was previously thought that INEOS would try to get the duo to work in tandem, as they did a few years ago. However, that did not prove to be the case as the co-owners went about interviewing them separately. In the end, due to the input of a few senior stars and the complications regarding appointing the backroom staff for the Norwegian, it was the Englishman who won the race. It was revealed that the co-owners were not too pleased with the baby-faced assassin’s long-term ambitions. The legendary striker wanted the job permanently provided he succeeded in guiding the Red Devils back to the Champions League.
