Belgium goalkeeper Senne Lammens has made a promising start to life at Manchester United. The Royal Antwerp talent moved to United with just one full season of senior football under his belt and replaced the much-scrutinised Andre Onana between the sticks. The 23-year-old, who joined United for an initial fee of £18.1 million, has instilled calmness at the back. However, the Red Devils are still conceding too many goals. Manchester United enter race to sign Mile Svilar A report in Italy suggests that Manchester United are interested in signing a new number one. According to Asromalive.it, United are battling with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur for the services of AS Roma shot-stopper Mile Svilar. The Belgium-born goalkeeper made his Champions League debut against United with Benfica in 2017. Jose Mourinho labelled the then 18-year-old as a “superhero” after his record-breaking appearance. At Roma, Svilar has been nothing short of a pillar. Recently, manager Gian Piero Gasperini underlined the 26-year-old’s importance by comparing him to a “25-goal striker”. Last summer, Svilar renewed his contract with the Giallorossi until the summer of 2030 and is valued at €70 million. The report adds that the valuation has not scared the Premier League clubs, who continue to send their scouts to monitor the Roma star. Amorim did not want Lammens at Manchester United According to a report in the Daily Mail, Lammens was not Ruben Amorim’s preferred goalkeeper signing last summer. It is believed the Portuguese head coach pushed for Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa to replace Onana as his number one. However, the club’s recruitment team decided to press ahead with a deal for Lammens, who had to wait over a month for his debut against Sunderland in October.
