Ex-Solskjaer and Ten Hag assistant set to become next manager of Championship club – report

Former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay is reportedly in line to become the next manager of West Bromwich Albion. Ramsay at United Ramsay joined United in 2020 as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom staff. Regarded as one of the best young coaches in Britain, he also worked as an assistant coach for the Wales national team. He also served under Erik ten Hag before his departure in February 2024. Ramsay parted ways with the Red Devils to join Major League Soccer team Minnesota United as head coach. He has enjoyed success in the MLS, having guided Minnesota United to back-to-back Conference play-off semi-finals. Now, various reports have claimed that Ramsay is on the brink of making a return to England, this time to take charge of West Brom. Ramsay set for England return According to Sky Sports, the former United coach is “in talks” with West Brom over the managerial position, following the sacking of Ryan Mason. Mason was dismissed earlier this week with the Baggies currently sitting in 18th place in the Championship standings, 10 points adrift of the playoff places. ESPN add that Ramsay is “set to join” West Brom, seemingly noting that an agreement may have been struck for the 33-year-old to move to the Hawthorns. Alongside his position at United, Ramsay’s background includes developing young talent at Swansea City, Shrewsbury Town, and Chelsea. Meanwhile, United are next in action on Sunday when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup. Darren Fletcher will once again be in the dugout. Kick-off is at 4.30pm GMT.
