Toone and Terland head list of gifted quartet committing their future to United – report

Manchester United have extended the contracts of four key members of the women’s team. The Guardian has reported that “all four players had been set to enter the final six months of their deals but the WSL club have moved during this winter break to extend their stays for at least another season.” Doing business in the January window The renewals come on the back of fantastic transfer news. United have signed two players in the window; the first was defender Hanna Lundkvist on a free transfer from San Diego Wave. The 23-year-old started every game at Euro 2025 for Sweden. The Red Devils have also strengthened in attack, with striker Lea Schuller from Bayern Munich making the move over to the red side of Manchester. The German international scored 54 goals in 82 games for the Bavarian club, as she contributed towards four Frauen-Bundesliga titles. News also broke this week that midfielder Hinata Miyazawa has signed a new three-year contract with the club that takes her deal to the end of June 2029. Toone’s brilliance and Terland’s goals Of the four stars to commit their futures to the club, Ella Toone and Elisabeth Terland are the twin jewels in the crown. In her eighth season at the club, Toone has had an amazing campaign so far. She is second in the league for most goal contributions, with eight, behind Manchester City’s Bunny Shaw, 15. Terland has also had a magnificent start to the season, scoring 10 goals, with seven of those coming in the Champions League, helping United into sixth place in the league phase table. The other two members of the quartet, Lisa Naalsund and Gabby George, have had minimal impact on and off the bench this season, with both players making a combined start of three games so far. The new deals may not stop there. Rachel Williams, Leah Galton and Hannah Blundell are also out of contract this summer and have the possibility of leaving in the January or summer transfer window. Marc Skinner will look to add more players to his squad in January, as United aim to go deep in the Champions League with their Women’s Super League hopes fading away.
