Manchester United and AS Roma could help each other out in the coming weeks. Roma are trying to sign Joshua Zirkzee from United, as Evan Ferguson has failed to find his feet in Italy. The ex-Bologna man has emerged as their top striker target. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Zirkzee has agreed to a move to Rome, and the Giallorossi are working on finding an agreement with United. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have their eyes on Roma’s star midfielder, Manu Kone. Italian reporter Francesca Teodori expects the Frenchman to leave Roma and join United in June next summer. Manchester United considering signing Manu Kone According to CaughtOffside, United’s move for Manu Kone is seen as part of Ruben Amorim’s plan to rebuild his side’s midfield. The 24-year-old France international’s power and ball-carrying ability could be the “perfect fit” for United amid question marks over Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte’s performances. The report adds that Kone has the “technical attributes” for Premier League football and he could prove to be a “quality addition” for United, having shown his mettle in Germany and Italy. Roma rule out January exit It is understood Kone is keen on a Premier League adventure, making “this transfer more likely by the day.” However, Roma remain in control of his future, as the dynamic midfielder is tied to the club until the summer of 2029. The Serie A giants have ruled out an exit mid-season, but they are open to considering a summer transfer for around €60–65 million. As far as the winter window is concerned, United are “paying close attention” to Everton midfielder James Garner.
