World Cup Golden Boot winner close to long-term deal with United Women – The BBC

Manchester United Women have enjoyed an all-round positive start to the 2025–2026 season. Team success They have qualified for the next stage of the Champions League, where they will play Atletico Madrid in February. They also recently made it to the semi-finals of the League Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. They are currently in fourth place in the table, but just three points behind second place as they look to secure qualification back into the Champions League for next season. Player rise Numerous players have taken significant steps forward this season, such as Anna Sandberg and Jayde Riviere, alongside the incredible impact of new signings Jess Park and Fridolina Rolfo. One player who has also made huge strides this season is Japanese international Hinata Miyazawa. She has been crucial to Marc Skinner’s side, winning plenty of midfield battles this season, and has been heavily praised by her teammates such as Maya Le Tissier and Ella Toone. She has played 22 games this season across all competitions. The Japan star has also scored one goal in the current campaign. New deal The club and player both seem very content with how things are working out, and The BBC reports that, “Manchester United are in discussions with midfielder Hinata Miyazawa over a new long-term deal.” The article goes on to state that, “the Japan international has become a key player under manager Marc Skinner since joining in 2023.” Miyazawa famously won the Golden Boot award at the 2023 World Cup with five goals during the tournament. She will not be in action for a couple of weeks over the winter break but will return to duty with the rest of the United team on 10 January versus Arsenal.
