The Italian further added that INEOS have plans to strengthen in midfield instead of out wide in the winter transfer window. “Manchester United at this stage are not in active talks for Semenyo because their talks at this stage are on investing big money in different positions, like a new midfielder.” “So at this stage, they like Semenyo, yes. Amorim likes Semenyo, for sure. But the priority target at the moment is in a different position.” United cannot afford to lose the race It makes sense for United to target a midfielder given the lack of legs in that position. Casemiro has lasted 90 minutes only once this season, while Bruno Fernandes is much better suited to playing in a more advanced role. Manuel Ugarte’s form has been dreadful, while Kobbie Mainoo might leave in January after failing to impress the ex-Sporting CP boss. Manchester City, and Liverpool could now swoop for Antoine Semenyo, and that would be a crushing blow for Amorim, who tried to sign him in the summer. The Ghana international can play in multiple positions, a huge advantage for United. He has a £65 million release clause in his contract, that can be triggered in the early stages of January.
