Fabrizio Romano reveals United’s January plans for superstar PL attacker who fits Amorim’s system like a glove

After Ruben Amorim criticised Patrick Dorgu in the build-up to Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, it was no surprise to see Diogo Dalot starting on the left against the Eagles. The Portuguese international enjoyed a decent outing and even brought up a personal milestone in the process, but he is still not the answer to the head coach’s problems out wide. Dorgu remains raw, and needs further nurturing instead of public beratement, but it is also true that the Red Devils need an attacking outlet like Amad on the opposite flank. That is where Antoine Semenyo came in, with The Peoples Person recently relaying that the Red Devils had identified the Ghanaian as the perfect January recruit with United even getting in touch with his agents. United not in active talks for Antoine Semenyo However, Fabrizio Romano has now claimed on his YouTube channel that the 20-time English league champions are not in active talks for the Bournemouth talisman. The Italian further added that INEOS have plans to strengthen in midfield instead of out wide in the winter transfer window. “Manchester United at this stage are not in active talks for Semenyo because their talks at this stage are on investing big money in different positions, like a new midfielder.” “So at this stage, they like Semenyo, yes. Amorim likes Semenyo, for sure. But the priority target at the moment is in a different position.” United cannot afford to lose the race It makes sense for United to target a midfielder given the lack of legs in that position. Casemiro has lasted 90 minutes only once this season, while Bruno Fernandes is much better suited to playing in a more advanced role. Manuel Ugarte’s form has been dreadful, while Kobbie Mainoo might leave in January after failing to impress the ex-Sporting CP boss. Manchester City, and Liverpool could now swoop for Antoine Semenyo, and that would be a crushing blow for Amorim, who tried to sign him in the summer. The Ghana international can play in multiple positions, a huge advantage for United. He has a £65 million release clause in his contract, that can be triggered in the early stages of January. His price will fall to £50 million in the summer. Feature image Lewis Storey via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
