United newbie admits being left speechless after receiving surreal stamp of approval from Sir Alex

Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has revealed how he truly feels about the recent praise he received from the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. Sir Alex hails Lammens Having joined United during the summer transfer window from Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp, Lammens has easily slotted into life at Old Trafford. Since his debut against Sunderland at the start of October, he has started all of United’s fixtures. Lammens has quickly won over fans with his commanding presence, assured distribution and a string of impressive saves. He certainly looks at ease carrying the weight of the United No.1 jersey. It is a burden that has broken many of his predecessors. Lammens has been praised widely since coming into the team, but plaudits rarely get better than being singled out by Sir Alex. In an interview with Raceday RTV slightly over a week ago, Sir Alex said about Lammens, “There are signs, the manager has had some good signs.” “Particularly the goalkeeper – he’s been outstanding. He’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really good.” Lammens sat down with club media and revealed what Sir Alex’s words mean to him. Lammens reacts to Sir Alex praise The 23-year-old remarked, “Yeah, I read it somewhere and, at first, I couldn’t really believe it, to be honest. He is such a big name and especially at this club, so I was a little bit surprised, but it felt really, really good, to be honest.” “I haven’t met him yet, so I’m looking forward to that as well.” “But coming from him, yeah, it’s really nice to hear as well, someone with so much experience and such a big name at this club. It’s only good to hear.” Asked who his heroes are in football, Lammens answered, “Thibaut Courtois, because he’s also from Belgium. I watched him a lot growing up, especially in the national team when we played World Cups and European Championships.” “I think Manuel Neuer also is a big example for me because he’s so all-around, with his feet and helping the defence as well behind him.” United are next in action on Sunday when they make their way to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.
