Manchester United have generally improved this season in the Premier League. Whilst they currently sit 10th in the Premier League, a victory over Everton at Old Trafford tonight could see them rise to fifth place, if not potentially fourth depending on the amount of goals they score. The defence is still an area which could be improved upon as 11 teams have conceded less than the 18 goals United have shipped in 11 league matches this season. The Red Devils have also had to cope with no Lisandro Martinez since last February but the Argentine has been back in full training for a while and is ready to be a part of the squad again. The Peoples Person asked fans to vote on what has been United’s best back three combination of the season so far. First place 37% of readers feel that Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw is the club’s best back three at the moment. This has been Ruben Amorim’s most selected back three this season as Shaw has played all 11 matches this season. De Ligt has also appeared in all 11 matches and Leny Yoro has appeared in all 11 but four times as a substitute. Second place 31% of fans feel that De Ligt and Yoro should also be in the back three but that Harry Maguire should partner them not Shaw. The Englishman scored the winning goal at Anfield this season and has been in some of the best form of his United career this season. Maguire has played eight times this season in the league, coming off the bench four times. The English centre back picked up an injury versus Tottenham Hotspur before the international break and will certainly not be in action tonight. Third place 24% of fans felt that De Ligt and Maguire should be partnered by Luke Shaw as the best combination with youngster Leny Yoro dropping to the bench. This trio would certainly add experience and aerial ability but would very much lack speed. 8% of supporters felt another partnership could be effective, perhaps including Noussair Mazraoui in the backline as a right sided centre back or maybe even youngster Ayden Heaven.
