A very concerning update has surfaced regarding Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha ahead of Monday’s meeting with Everton. Cunha has seamlessly slotted into life at United since joining the club in the summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ruben Amorim has primarily used the Brazilian in one of the two number 10 positions in his favoured 3-4-2-1 system. Cunha has impressed with his strong dribbling, ball-carrying, and skills, making United’s attack much more dynamic. He has notched one goal for United, which he netted in last month’s 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion. As United prepare to come up against David Moyes’ men, it has surfaced that Cunha may have sustained an issue during training at Carrington. Cunha was due to make a visit to a market town in Greater Manchester to officially switch on the Christmas lights. The 28-year-old was scheduled to link up with Corrie actor Sam Aston on Saturday to turn on the Altrincham Christmas lights. However, Visit Altrincham have announced that the United star will not make it because he “had an accident” in training today. Visit Altrincham wrote on Instagram, “Unfortunately Matheus Cunha has had an accident in training today and will not be able to attend tonight’s Christmas Lights Switch on in Altrincham due to medical reasons.” The nature of the accident is unknown, with the club yet to issue an update. It also remains to be seen whether Cunha will be fit and available to play on Monday when Everton make their way to Old Trafford. Cunha has been central to United’s five-game unbeaten run, so his absence would undoubtedly be a big blow for Amorim and the team. United vs. Everton kicks off at 8pm.
