Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has given his response to suggestions that the club would be in a far better position if they kept Scott McTominay. McTominay thriving McTominay has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Europe since permanently parting ways with United in the summer of 2024 to join Napoli. His 12 goals helped Napoli to the Scudetto and he hasn’t skipped a beat this term, netting four goals and providing an assist in 14 appearances across all competitions. The Carrington academy graduate’s latest heroics helped Scotland earn a place in the 2026 World Cup. McTominay scored a fantastic overhead kick in the final qualifier between his country and Dorgu’s Denmark to break the deadlock. Denmark needed just a point to book their place in the tournament and they looked to have got that when Dorgu got on the score sheet. However, Scotland scored two late goals to condemn their opponents to a place in the play-offs. Since McTominay’s departure, both the media and several former players have repeatedly said that United made a mistake by selling him and should have kept him at the club. There have even been rumours that United are considering bringing him back to Old Trafford. However, Dorgu believes that United already have players who are good enough. Dorgu responds to McTominay claim Asked if he would love to be playing with McTominay, Dorgu answered [as quoted by Sports Illustrated], “It was a good goal but we also have enough good players at United as well.” “I am happy for him winning the league in Napoli.” Dorgu added, “We are in a really good position at United. We will go back with confidence to help the team to get more wins.” United are next in action on Monday evening when they host David Moyes’ Everton. The game kicks off at 8pm.
