Despite Manchester United’s thrilling last-gasp point against Tottenham Hotspur, Ruben Amorim remains a worried man given his options in attack. Benjamin Sesko, who came on as a second-half substitute, suffered a knee injury and had to leave the field. As a result, the Red Devils had to play on with 10 men for the rest of the game. Even though the head coach pointed out that the injury was not as serious, the 22-year-old had to withdraw from international duty. Should he fail to recover soon, Amorim will only have Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha as options to cover for the Slovenian. Sesko injury fears Neither of them are natural No.9s while the Cameroonian is expected to depart for the AFCON next month. With the Dutchman’s future also up in the air, INEOS might need to dip into the market for an alternative. And as revealed by Teamtalk, Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy could be a surprise option for the Red Devils to try and add to their roster during the January window. The Guinean will reportedly be offered to INEOS by intermediaries given the 20-time English league champions’ need for attacking reinforcements. The Dortmund No.9 has a special release clause in his contract that can be triggered by only certain clubs, and United are among those select few. Serhou Guirassy to be offered to United “Manchester United will be offered the chance to sign Serhou Guirassy in the January transfer window, sources have told TEAMtalk. “Sources have told TEAMtalk that Guirassy could be offered to Man Utd before the end of the season. While it is probably not going to be the right timing for Man Utd, there is a belief that Guirassy could look for a transfer from Borussia Dortmund. “Guirassy has a special release clause – with a handful of top clubs able to sign him. Man Utd are a team that are expected to be offered the opportunity to secure the 29-year-old goal machine’s signature.” The former VfB Stuttgart hitman has seven goals and four assists this season, but has not scored in his last six Bundesliga games. On top of that, United are wary of adding a striker to compete with Sesko for the lone position up top as they do not want to stall the ex-RB Leipzig ace’s development. United’s answer revealed The Old Trafford side will only be pressed into action if Zirkzee leaves in the winter as then it would open up a slot. “Man Utd likely to reject Serhou Guirassy offer. At the moment, the stance seems that Man Utd would not want a striker of Guirassy’s profile because of the threat it would pose to Benjamin Sesko. “Man Utd are torn over adding another striker to the squad because they do not want to block Sesko’s pathway to becoming a top Premier League number nine. The consideration towards bringing someone in would become more genuine if they decide to let Joshua Zirkzee leave.” Serhou Guirassy would reportedly cost €50 million, a fee INEOS might not have in their coffers, especially mid-season. A lot will depend on Sesko’s recovery and Zirkzee’s future.
