Manchester United remain linked with attacking additions in 2026, despite investing heavily in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko over the summer. While Mbeumo has been exceptional so far, and Cunha has also managed to impress, Sesko has endured a slow start to life at the Theatre of Dreams. With just two goals in 12 appearances so far, the Slovenian has yet to live up to expectations. As such, Ruben Amorim may be tempted to add an experienced striker to his squad in 2026 to lead the line and aid Sesko’s development. A recent report relayed by The Peoples Person states that the Red Devils have turned to long-term target Harry Kane for the job. Taking Bundesliga by storm Harry Kane ended his stay with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 to join Bayern Munich. He was briefly linked with United that year, who ended up signing Rasmus Hojlund instead. The Englishman, meanwhile, has taken the Bundesliga by storm since his move. Kane powered the Bavarians to the title last season and has been equally decisive this campaign. Only Alan Shearer (260) has scored more goals than Kane (213) in the Premier League, so the possibility of a return to England remains on the cards. United were hoping that the prospect of becoming the league’s top scorer might tempt the former Spurs striker to move to Old Trafford next season. However, it now appears that their plans have hit a snag. Kane wants to continue at the Allianz Arena According to Fichajes, Kane has decided to stay with Bayern Munich next season. Recent reports suggest that the Englishman has a €65 million release clause in his contract, which can be triggered next summer. The situation has alerted United, while Barcelona and Chelsea are reportedly in the race as well. However, the report adds that Kane remains settled at the Allianz Arena and is not seeking a new challenge at present. Meanwhile, the Bavarians have no desire to let their prized asset leave. Kane’s contract expires in 2027, but in a shift from their renewal policy for players beyond the age of 30, the Bundesliga champions are already planning to offer him a new deal. The update will be a major blow for INEOS’ plans, and United may have to turn to alternative targets in 2026. Meanwhile, the Red Devils’ chances of attracting top talents like Kane would receive a significant boost if they manage to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
