Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn from international duty with Slovenia after sustaining an injury over the weekend. Sesko injured Sesko came on as a substitute during United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Saturday. He was introduced in the second half as a replacement for Noussair Mazraoui, but he didn’t last for too long as he picked up an injury. Sesko found himself on the end of an aggressive challenge from Micky van de Ven. He immediately signalled to the bench that he needed to come off and moments later, was escorted down the tunnel for further treatment. The summer signing’s withdrawal saw United finish the game with 10 men as Ruben Amorim had used up all his allowed substitutes. After the final whistle, Amorim revealed that Sesko had suffered a knee injury. A subsequent update emerged, noting that Sesko’s injury was less serious than initially feared. Now, Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has confirmed as much, indicating that early signs are positive and Sesko may not be sidelined for very long. Whitwell has also divulged that Sesko will not be linking up with the Slovenia national team for the November international break. Sesko update According to Whitwell, “Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn with the Slovenia squad after sustaining an injury to his left knee against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.” “Sesko will remain at Carrington where he will continue to be assessed by United’s medical staff, but the forward is not thought to have suffered a major injury.” “The extent of the problem should become clear ahead of the Manchester side’s return to action against Everton on November 24, after the club have completed further tests.” Sesko has made 11 Premier League appearances for United this term, contributing two goals and as many assists in that period.
