Fabrizio Romano Issues Update As He Reveals Whether Man United Are In “Advanced Negotiations” To Sign Playmaker

BACK Man United are not currently negotiating a deal for West Ham playmaker Lucas Paqueta, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Speculative sources have suggested that the Red Devils are interested in the Brazilian international but, speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “In January, if there is the right opportunity, Paqueta could have the possibility to go and leave West Ham. So keep an eye on that one, because it’s a concrete possibility” “Many asking about Manchester United. At the moment, I am not aware of concrete or advanced negotiations between Paqueta and Manchester United or Manchester United and West Ham.” Paqueta is not the right type of midfielder The 28-year-old is a creative player in the mould of Bruno Fernandes, so unless the club captain is leaving Old Trafford in the near future, there isn’t really any point pursuing a replacement. Head coach Ruben Amorim would reportedly prefer a more dynamic, athletic midfielder who can cover ground, win tackles, and provide quality in possession. Paqueta is ill-equipped for such duties. Who could Man United sign instead? To be honest, we have lost count of the number of midfielders that have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. On Friday, we mentioned that the Red Devils are fans of Lille teenager Ayyoub Bouaddi, while Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham, Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Chelsea’s Andrey Santos and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson have also been mentioned as potential options. Amorim is said to have asked the club’s recruitment team for a long-term solution rather than a short-term fix to strengthen the midfield during the January transfer window. It remains to be seen whether he will get his wish.
