“Every game for us is like a final”: United star’s words following Forest rescue act will please Amorim

Unlike previous seasons, Manchester United fought back from a goal down to leave the City Ground with a point following their Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The Red Devils had taken the lead in the first half through Casemiro, but the hosts equalised and retook the lead within five minutes of the restart. Diogo Dalot had a day to forget while Ruben Amorim’s substitutions defied logic. But up stepped Amad to save the head coach’s blushes. The Ivorian came up with a long-range stunner to equalise for the visitors, and even came mightily close to finding the winner in added time, only for a goal-line clearance to thwart his efforts. Amad reaction will impress Amorim The head coach praised the team’s fightback, and will be pleased with how the 23-year-old reacted post match. When asked by Sky Sports about his wonder strike, Amad said, “I don’t know if it is goal of the season. We are really disappointed to go home with one point.” This shows that personal accolades have taken the back seat to collective glory under Amorim, a sharp change from the atmosphere that pervaded the dressing room under previous managers. Regarding the tough away game, the Ivory Coast international added, “It’s always difficult to play Nottingham Forest. We wanted to win this game coming from three in a row. We are a bit disappointed because we go home with one point. But we will learn from this.” Backing the head coach Question marks have subsided regarding Amorim’s future, with Amad revealing that the entire squad believes in the Portuguese tactician, as much as he believes in the players. “I think we have confidence now. We believe in the manager and we believe in the system. We are training to do the best. Everyone is now focussed. We have three wins in the row and we wanted to make it four and were unlucky. “We are doing things step by step and we believe in the manager like he believes in us. Every game for us is like a final. We wanted to bring this team to the top level. We wanted to win this game and we are disappointed as a team.” United will face Tottenham Hotspur next week ahead of the November international break and the players will get the chance to respond at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
