Official: Lionesses confirm United star has withdrawn from national team after concussion

Manchester United star Jess Park has withdrawn from the England national team due to a concussion, it has been confirmed.

Park enjoying a dramatic rise at United

Park’s stock continues to soar at United since making the switch from cross-town rivals Manchester City in the summer. She arrived at United as part of a swap deal, which involved Grace Clinton heading the other way.

Park opened her goalscoring account for United in a win over the London City Lionesses. She followed that up with a stunning brace in the 4-1 comeback victory against Everton on October 12.

She also has one assist to her name.

The player suffered a concussion during the contest with Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. As a result, Park missed United’s narrow Champions League triumph over Atletico Madrid.

She was a notable absentee in the middle of the park but luckily, the Reds still managed to clinch all three points, courtesy of a fantastic Fridolina Rolfo strike.

Park was called up to the England squad ahead of their friendly matches against Brazil and Australia. However, she will not be available to Sarina Wiegman for selection as she has pulled out of the squad.

Park withdraws from England squad

England released a statement which reads, “Jess Naz has been added to the England squad that will face Brazil in Manchester this Saturday and Australia in Derby next Tuesday.”

“The Tottenham Hotspur forward, who has won six caps, last featured for the Lionesses as a substitute in February’s 1-0 win against Spain at Wembley.”

“Naz comes in to replace Manchester United’s Jess Park, who has withdrawn from the squad after the midfielder sustained a delayed concussion following Manchester United’s last Barclays WSL fixture.”

“Park reported to St. George’s Park on Monday as part of the 24-player squad to continue her graded return to play but has experienced some symptoms during this process and has returned to her club to continue her rehabilitation.”

United are back in action on Sunday, 2 November, when they go away to Brighton and Hove Albion.
