Radek Vitek

The Czech keeper has had an outstanding start to life for Bristol City and has fully cemented himself as the number one at the club.

He helped his side to a crucial 3-1 victory over Southampton in the Championship.

Vitek made three saves that came from shots inside the penalty area.

His evening got off to a poor start when he was chipped by Adam Armstrong after 30 minutes of play to give the visitors the lead.

The young keeper made up for it though later when he made a crucial stop one-on-one with the Saints’ striker to deny them a second goal of the night.

The Czech has been compared to United great Peter Schmeichel in the past and the way he stood up tall in the one-on-one was reminiscent of the Great Dane.

He did have a touch of luck though when he was well beaten with a fierce drive from range that rattled the crossbar in the second half.

Vitek made a total of six saves during the match and completed both his run out attempts to clear danger.

The Bristol City star could only connect with 45% of his passes as he frequently went long.

Ethan Wheatley

The United academy product scored his second goal at the weekend but found this evening tougher going.

The forward only managed one shot on target during Northampton Town’s 0-1 defeat to Reading.

It was considered a big chance though as he was sent one-on-one through on goal in the first half but his effort was well blocked by the onrushing Reading keeper.

He did complete one key pass but he was largely isolated from his teammates, only making a total of five passes in the match.

Wheatley was well beaten in his duels though, incredibly winning only one of his 14 aerial battles. He also could only manage to come out on top in two of his 10 ground contests.
