Despite remaining on the bench for the duration of the match, Joshua Zirkzee still managed to consolidate his status as a Manchester United fan favourite.
The Netherlands international watched his teammates beat their arch-rivals Liverpool by two goals to one at Anfield. Bryan Mbeumo gave the visitors an early lead that remained intact until the 79th minute, when Cody Gakpo produced an equaliser for the Reds. Nevertheless, Man Utd swiftly restored their lead thanks to Harry Maguire’s towering header.
Since the visitors were in the lead for the bulk of the contest, Ruben Amorim opted against resorting to Zirkzee’s services. And yet, the 24-year-old still made himself noticed with his buoyant celebration.
