Man United have been linked to Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, but they are more likely to sign ‘the next Jude Bellingham’.
The Red Devils will come out of the international break with a very tough fixture against Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League. But, United are in better form than the Reds as Ruben Amorim‘s side has won two of their last three games. Meanwhile, Liverpool have lost their last three, and so Amorim’s side could look to cause an upset on Sunday.
After this block of fixtures, United will likely look ahead to the January transfer window, where they will, in an ideal world, sign a central midfielder who can play alongside Bruno Fernandes in Amorim’s holding role.
They have been heavily linked with several names, including Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, and more recently Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton, who could cost over £60m if Palace are willing to sell him. However, the Eagles are likely to lose Marc Guehi in January, and so they will likely be very protective of Wharton.
Man United are more likely to sign Bellingham
Here’s some clickbait for you, not Jude, but Jobe Bellingham could be Man United’s answer to the midfield position, with reports saying that he could leave Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, as he hasn’t been happy there.
Bellingham joined Dortmund in the summer from Sunderland, but he hasn’t had the game time he would like, and so, German outlet Bild have suggested that he could join either Man United or Crystal Palace, both of whom were keen on him in the summer.
The 20-year-old has made six Bundesliga appearances so far this season for Dortmund, but he’s failed to score or assist, and it has been suggested that a short move back to England could benefit the midfielder.
Bellingham in January and Wharton in the summer…?
All of the indications around Wharton’s transfer future is that it will be very difficult for Man United to sign him in the January window, especially considering that Palace are in Europe this season.
However, the Red Devils would likely make a move for him in the summer if he’s still available, and so they could loan in Bellingham to be their short-term fix, and sign Wharton in summer to be their long-term future.
It is unlikely that Bellingham will be available for a permanent move as he has only been at Dortmund for six months, but a loan could at least help Amorim fill his vacant holding midfield role.
