Man United are keeping tabs on Jobe Bellingham’s situation at Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.

The midfielder only made the €35m (£30.5m) switch from Sunderland to the Bundesliga club in the summer but he is struggling to get first team opportunities.

Dortmund boss Niko Kovac has started Bellingham in 3 matches so far this season and TEAMtalk claims the player’s father Mark has been having “heated exchanges” with the head coach about his lack of game time.

It is believed that the 20-year-old is already “weighing up” whether to leave Germany, with a loan or permanent move being explored ahead of the January transfer window.

Man United hold a long-term interest in the player

Both the Red Devils and Crystal Palace are said to have considered making bids for Bellingham prior to his transfer to Dortmund.

The two Premier League sides are said to be still interested in signing the England Under 21 international, so an attempt could be made to loan or buy the player in the New Year if his situation doesn’t improve in the mean time.

Bellingham would solve Amorim’s midfield problem

There is no doubt that United could do with reinforcements in the middle of the park. Casemiro is past his prime, Kobbie Mainoo is unhappy about his role, while Manuel Ugarte looks to be below the level required to play in the Premier League.

Head coach Ruben Amorim would undoubtedly welcome the arrival of Bellingham, who possesses all the attributes needed to play in a double pivot.

In addition to being energetic and willing to cover plenty of ground, he is very capable with the ball at his feet. Last season for Sunderland in the Championship, the midfielder came close to hitting double figures for goal involvements, scoring 4 times as well as providing 5 assists.
